Can You Get Laser Hair Removal on Your Lunch Break? A Guide for City of London Workers
You have got an hour. Possibly forty minutes, once the 12 o'clock has run over. You are somewhere between Bank and Fenchurch Street, and you have been meaning to sort your laser sessions out since roughly February.
So, the honest question: can you actually get laser hair removal done on a lunch break, or is that a nice idea that collapses the moment you open your calendar?
For smaller areas, yes. Comfortably.
For larger areas, no, and we would rather tell you that now than have you watching the clock halfway through your legs.
Here is how it actually works, area by area, so you can book the right slot the first time.
How long does a laser hair removal appointment take?
Appointment length comes down to the size of the area and how many areas you are treating in one visit.
At Laser Me Out, smaller areas such as the underarms take under 30 minutes. A full body appointment needs around two hours.
Everything else sits between those two points.
That makes the following realistic lunch break territory:
- Underarms
- Upper lip
- Chin and jawline
- Neck
- Bikini line
- Smaller facial areas
- Any single small area on its own
Combining several areas in one visit changes the maths, so tell us what you want treated when you book and we will give you the right slot rather than the shortest one.
Why the treatment itself is quicker than people expect
We treat with Soprano Titanium, which delivers three laser wavelengths, 755nm, 810nm and 1064nm, in a single applicator, alongside continuous contact cooling. Alma, the manufacturer, describes the three wavelengths as targeting different depths and structures within the hair follicle.
The therapist works in passes across the area rather than firing single shots one at a time, which is why a small area does not take an hour.
But the machine is only part of it. The assessment, the settings for your skin and hair, and the technique all matter more than raw speed.
Fast is not the same as rushed. If an area needs more time, it gets more time.
Which areas do City workers actually book?
Underarms. The most practical area to fit around work, and one of our most requested. Small area, short appointment, and no visible aftermath if you are heading back to a desk.
Chin, upper lip and jawline. Facial areas are exactly why people want a clinic near the office. Travelling across London for a ten minute treatment area is what stops people finishing a course. Worth knowing: hormonal hair around the chin and jawline often needs a different plan from underarms or legs, so your therapist will assess it properly rather than handing you a standard package.
Bikini line. Smaller bikini areas fit around a working day more easily than full body treatments. If you are looking at Hollywood or Brazilian, read that guide first so you know exactly what each one covers before you book.
Beard line and neck. One of the most common men's bookings, usually because of razor bumps rather than anything else. We cover it properly in our men's laser hair removal guide.
What about full body?
This is where the answer changes to a straight no.
Allow around two hours for full body. That is not a lunch break, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
The good news is that in the City, lunchtime is not your only option. Our Monument clinic is open 9am to 9pm, seven days a week, which means you can book:
- Before work
- Mid-morning or mid-afternoon
- After work
- Late evening
- At the weekend
For full body, an evening or weekend appointment will always beat squeezing it into the middle of the day.
Can you go straight back to work afterwards?
For most people, yes. Laser hair removal does not usually require any real downtime, and the American Academy of Dermatology notes that most people return to their everyday activities afterwards, though the treated skin can look red and swollen at first, often similar to mild sunburn.
Going back to your desk is fine.
Going from your laser appointment straight to a lunchtime HIIT class is not. We advise avoiding anything that creates excess heat, sweat or friction for around 24 to 48 hours, so that means hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and hard workouts.
One practical note if you are treating your face: if you have a client meeting at 2pm and you would rather not walk in pink, book facial areas for an evening slot instead. Everyone's skin settles at a different rate. Your therapist will talk you through the aftercare for your specific treatment before you leave.
Do you prepare differently for a lunchtime appointment?
No. Preparation is the same whether your appointment is at 9am, 1pm or 7pm.
Shave the area beforehand as advised by your therapist. Do not wax, pluck, thread or epilate between sessions, because those methods remove the root that the laser needs to target.
Tell your therapist about any medication, any change to your skin and any recent sun exposure. If something has changed since your last visit, say so. It is always better for us to check than assume, and it matters even more if you have caught the sun, which we cover in our guide to laser on tanned skin.
Why being close to work matters more than you think
Laser is not one appointment. It is a course.
At Laser Me Out, facial sessions are generally spaced around four to six weeks apart, and body sessions around six to eight weeks apart, because hair grows in cycles and each session catches a different group of follicles. Timing between sessions is one of the things that quietly decides your results.
So the real question is not whether you can get to a clinic once. It is whether you can get there consistently for the better part of a year.
One appointment is easy to fit in. Eight is a logistics problem. And the most common reason people stop halfway through a course is not pain and it is not results. It is the journey.
A clinic five minutes from your office solves that without you having to think about it.
Why we opened Laser Me Out Monument
The answer is fairly simple: our clients were already here.
People were leaving offices in the Square Mile, crossing London for a short appointment, and crossing back. Some did that for a full course. Some stopped, and that is the part that bothered us, because a course you do not finish is a course that does not work.
Our Marylebone clinic works well for people around Baker Street and the West End. It works less well if you spend five days a week around Bank, Monument, Cannon Street or Fenchurch Street.
So we opened closer to you.
Monument is our third clinic and our second in London, alongside 146 Marylebone Road and 271 Hagley Road in Birmingham. Same Soprano Titanium, same standards, same 9am to 9pm opening, seven days a week. We are still not a discount chop shop selling you a package you found at 60% off at midnight. We have just moved within walking distance of your desk.

Closest to Monument, with Bank, Cannon Street and Fenchurch Street all nearby.
Open 9am to 9pm, seven days a week.
Your first visit is a consultation and patch test
If you are new to Laser Me Out, you start with a consultation and patch test rather than a treatment. This is where we assess your skin and hair, set safe parameters and tell you honestly what your areas need.
It is also your chance to ask about the areas you want treated, hormonal hair growth, medication, previous laser, sun exposure, how many sessions are likely and how long your appointments will actually take. Here is exactly what happens at your first consultation.
Give that first appointment a proper slot in the diary. Everything after it is the quick version.
And please do not choose a course because it sounds like the best deal going. Start with what you want treated and what is genuinely suitable for your skin and hair, which is also why we treat all skin tones, including deeper skin, rather than turning people away at the door.
So, lunch break or not?
For smaller areas, absolutely. Underarms, chin, upper lip, neck and bikini line all fit a normal working day.
For full body, give yourself two hours and book an evening or a weekend.
The point is not to compress every treatment into twenty minutes. Your appointment length should be set by the area being treated, not by the gap before your next Teams call.
If you work around Monument, Bank or anywhere in the City of London, book your consultation and patch test at Laser Me Out Monument and we will tell you exactly how much time to allow for the areas you want treated.
